Cory Lopez......Surfing The World's Longest Wave.....

Ok so we may have told a little bit of a cheeky lie with that headline as today's surfing video see's Cory Lopez wake surfing. It's a big wake, however the way that Cory manages pop off it like it's a wedging little left or right is pretty decent. For those of you looking to get a surf movie made or if you just want to check out the stuff director/editor/ producer Daniel Jones has done (he has some other surfing videos) be sure to head over to his blog.

Those landlocked surfers among you will no doubt be rushing to your nearest lake to see if they have a boat that can create a wake as big as the one in today's surfing video. Machines like the one making the wake in Cory Lopez's wake surfing video are not cheap so not too many lakes have them, good luck finding one (if you are land locked and know a lake near you that has a boat that can create a great wake, not matter where you are in the world drop us an email on enquiries(at)dailysurfvideos.com).

One of surfing's greatest mysteries has been how to create a perfect wave inland away from the beaches, to help grow the sport and potentially (if identical perfect waves could be created)drive the sports level of performance to the next level. The most successful wave pool ever (in terms of wave creation, not commercial success as it is now closed) is the Ocean Dome wave pool in Miyazaki, Japan. Transworld surf did a an article on the pool and there are also videos on YouTube if you search "wave pool". You can see from the videos just how good the waves were when the wave pool was opened, their not perfect but barrels in a swimming pool who's going to say no to that if they can't get to the beach? The only catch to surfing the Miyazaki wave pool wave is that of the ridiculously shallow concrete bottom ready to bring the in land surfing fairytale back down to earth with a heavy bump.

So with one artificial wave pool closed where to next? There was a plan (before the global recession) to build a wave pool in a disused dock in London, England; waves in the UK are not within easy reach of its capital which would make it viable and considering how many of us surfers stop off in London as a through point to another surfing destination it seemed a sensible idea. Unfortunately there has been no news on the project since 2008 so it looks like we will have to wait a while until Daily Surf Videos can post surfing videos of tomorrows pro's surfing artificial perfection.....
