Wilson, Reynolds, Flores and Kelly Slater Surfing Video In Beautiful High Def (15 mins)

An amazing surfing video from Quiksilver. Its a longer version of the Cypher video posted last week, it sees Julian Wilson, Dane Reynolds, Jeremy Flores and Kelly Slater surfing in high def. Footage for the surfing video has been shot using a special type of camera technology although Quiksilver do not say what. The surfing action has been slowed right down in some sections to 1000 frames a seconds, this as I am sure you will all agree produces some epic footage. This clip itself is just under 14 minutes long, not bad for a free surfing video. Apparently you can see more surfing videos like this at www.Quiksilver.com. One of the highlights in this surfing video has to be around the 6 minute mark.

On a bit more of a thinking note (apologies to those of you who just want to watch the surfing video, you can skip this!) It makes you wonder where the next step in terms of surfing videos will come from. It only seems like the other day when High Def surfing started to become featured in surfing videos, but outside of the surfing world filming technology has moved on. The most obvious form of progress for surfing videos is that of 3D. If you have a chance to see the highest grossing movie of all time 'Avatar' you will no doubt have amazed by the visuals of the movie despite the cheesy story line, imagine those affects on a surf movie!! Kelly Slater is releasing a movie this year that will be released in I Max theatres which sees 3D footage of surfing Teahupoo which marks the first real use of this technology by surfing film makers. There will no doubt be a while yet before this technology allows us to watch 3d surfing videos at home on our TV or laptop but this will no doubt become reality at some point in th future. Who knows maybe in 5 years time Daily Surf Videos will be able to post a 3D surfing video every day?
